Special Interest Groups
Each special interest group gets together once a month at one of the member's homes for a regular meeting. There is no extra charge to belong to these groups.
Current Groups are:
BOOK GROUP
Meets in the Drury Library to discuss and rate books that members have read.
STORY WRITER'S GROUP
Personal experiences, stories and recollections form the basis of this group.
DISCUSSION GROUP *2
Lively discussions of current affairs and other interesting topics are presented by members.
ENTERTAINMENT GROUP
This group seeks to involve members in supporting events taking place in the community. They go to films, exhibitions and live shows, especially in the local area.

MARCO POLO GROUP
This group concentrates on travel and overseas experience. A speaker presents a country or travel topic that is then commented on by the group

OUT AND ABOUT
**The Out N About Group** is open to all members of the Papakura U3A
Members can choose to participate from a variety of outings planned by the group
Each member will nominate an outing, and plan/arrange the date/time etc and notify the rest of the group at a meeting held every month or so.
There is the option of car pooling from the carpark opposite the St John Clubrooms on the day, or finding your own way to and from the planned outing.
There is also a further option to join others for lunch following the outing

FILM APPRECIATION
The Film Appreciation Group is for members who enjoy attending movies regularly in the company of acquaintances from U3A Papakura.
Rod Baldwin suggests a movie every month, and emails the members on the Group mailing list with his suggestion.
The suggested movies are usually shown at a 12:30PM mid week session at the Hawkins Theatre, but occasionally at the Rialto Theatre in Newmarket, which can be readily accessed by train.
