What is U3A

The University of the Third Age movement began in France in the mid 1970's. It has spread to many countries and has hundreds of thousands of members world-wide.

U3A is a response to the idea that life is divided into three periods:

1) Childhood and schooling

2) Child rearing and work

3) Retirement - the 3rd age

This third age is seen as an important opportunity for listening, learning and understanding.

This comes from listening to speakers and socialising at our regular monthly meeting along with optional participation in informal "special interest" groups.
